Kai Kunze will be appointed as Project Associate Professor of the Graduate School of Media Design

Keio University Graduate School of Media Design (known as KMD, Dean: Professor Masa Inakage) is pleased to announce that Kai Kunze will be appointed as Project Associate Professor effective October 1, 2014.
With over ten years of experience in wearable computing and ubiquitous computing research fields, Kai Kunze’s major research contributions are made in the areas of activity/context recognition and sensing and pattern recognition.
He also won the best paper and demo awards and various nominations at UbiComp, PERCOM, and ICDAR. His current research interests encompass tracking of cognitive activities, cognition-aware computing, smart eyewear, and augmentation of the human mind.
His work experience includes research visits and internships at the Palo Alto Research Center (PARC, Palo Alto, US), MIT Media Lab (Cambridge, US), Sunlabs Europe (Grenoble, France), and the German Stock Exchange (Frankfurt, Germany). He earned his Ph.D., summa cum laude, in the field of activity recognition from the University of Passau in Germany.
At KMD, he will implement cognitive activity recognition on a smart eyewear. He will expand his expertise in smart eyewear, and will continue developing technologies to make us smarter.
