KMD Play Project and Spiral Released a Series of “ART meets AR” themed Instagram AR Effects

Spiral/Wacoal Art Center has joined forces with Keio Media Design Play Project AR/T group to collaborate with 3 emerging artists to create interactive AR effects that transform their artistic visions into playful experiences. AR effects are published on the official Instagram account for Spiral/Wacoal Art Center (@spiral_jp).

The list of participating artists is as follows.
– tanaka macoto
“tanaka macoto” is a contemporary kiri-e artist (kiri-e = paper-cutting). Her unique style associates the meaning of the images and the words she extracts from receipts and books with the shapes she cuts out and turns them into.
– Makoto Egashira
Makoto Egashira creates installations by wrapping everyday objects in rococo-style rose print blankets, widespread in Japanese households since the last century’s economic boom.
– Lu Yang
Lu Yang, a Shanghai-based contemporary artist, creates an intense visual-world using expressions such as animation and games while focusing on the topics of science and religion.

■Project Team: Play Project AR/T Group
ART/T group challenges to expand ART by digital for redesigning it for
post-COVID-19 society. Owning art has been considered a privilege, an exceptional experience only shared by a small group of collectors and art professionals. We believe by bringing artworks into XR, more people will be able to enjoy the experience of art as part of their daily life.
