Realitymedia to demonstrate world’s first virtual wedding attendance via Virtual Reality & Robot technologies

KMD Realitymedia, beyond vicinity team members (MHD Yamen Saraiji (PhD. Student), Project Senior Assistant Professor Charith Lasantha Fernando) started a new collaborative project “HUG Project” with Ducklings Inc. (http://ducklings.jp) demonstrating the world’s first virtual wedding participation helping a 90-year-old grandmother to attend her grandson’s wedding ceremony from a hospital miles away using telexistence technology.
The project allows the remote participant to remote control a social humanoid robot “Pepper” using FOVE eye tracking technology. The project demonstrated on Oct 10th between Ritz Carlton Hotel in Tokyo and a rural hospital in Aichi Prefecture and lot of local and international media caught the attention.
